Do you know what last week was?
It was the premiere of my favorite TV show guilty pleasure, The Bachelor.
If you’re unfamiliar with the show, it goes like this. A single bachelor (Peter is this season’s bachelor) is put in a mansion in Malibu with 30 ladies vying for his attention, and his love. If he likes one of them enough, he gives them a rose, which allows them to stay in the mansion for another week.
To keep things interesting, the show makes the ladies compete with each other, and the winner gets to spend one on one time with Peter. Which is quite the perk, when you’re used to sharing him with 29 other women.
Last night’s challenge was an obstacle course, and the first one to finish it would be the winner.
The last stretch of the course was riding on lil’ tricycles, navigating cones and the course and whatnot. It came down to two women, Kelley and Tammy.
Tammy tries her absolute hardest to follow the course, and not skip any cones or turns.
Kelley, however, completely ignores the course and goes straight to the finish line.
Here’s what it looked like:
Kelley easily wins the race, gets quality time in a private plane with our Bachelor Peter, and even gets the vaunted rose (right in front of the other women, who were NOT happy).
Yes, Kelley cheated to win. And I’m not ever going to tell you to cheat on anything.
But there’s still something to be said of Kelley’s efforts.
She knew exactly what she wanted, and took the quickest path to get there.
Knowing exactly what you want is essential to life, relationships, and your finances. It’s why I always tell my new clients that the first step is to establish goals. You need to have a clear vision of what you’re trying to achieve.
Once you have clear goals, then you need to avoid the twisty financial obstacle courses that life presents, and instead go straight to where you need to go.
To do that: Make a list of actionable steps you need to take to reach all of your goals in the quickest and easiest way possible.
If you’re not sure what you want to achieve, or what steps to take to achieve your financial goals, the quickest and easiest way to find out is to talk with me.
There’s no obligation, no sales pressure, and we can even chat about our bachelor picks for the season 😉
